Reviews
Goodness, looking at Bob's handsome face staring out at me from my music stand - 'gotta love this front cover photo!! Oh, the songbook itself is a small size. Many of his most popular songs - chords changes at the top of the words. I use a binder clip to keep the pages open - easy easy. Verses only - no music notation (helpfully omitted for beginners). The chords - guitar notation - used are on the top of EACH PAGE which meant someone was thinking here. I really like that. Just a glance up, and you've got it. No rhythm suggestions in the songbook however. So that was a bit of a bummer. Therefore, I went on-line to several of my favorites (justinguitar.com, and guitarjamz.com) and tried to find Bob Dylan strumming patterns. Seems folks are leery as it must be a copyright thing. I did find several instructors on line that do show common patterns. I checked YouTube to the old Bob Dylan black and white performances from the 60s and try to figure them out myself. Overall for a beginner, the chords are workable, you can sing along, just get your timing down 4/4, and jot down strum patterns in the little songbook and you'll do well. I enjoy "You Aint' Goin Nowhere; Blowin in the Wind; All Along the Watchtower" I wish it had "Mr. Tambourine Man" however. Cover the easy basics, so I had to buy another book to get that song for a beginner. Good little book.
